Hypocrite – a person who acts in contradiction to his or her stated beliefs or feelings.
(i.e.- when the inward & outward don't match)
We call it 'hype' for short.
Comes from Greek word for actor.
If you profess godliness, you should portray holiness. Your profession should become your portrayal, and your portrayal should be your profession. One should not be able to distinguish between your profession & portrayal. Your portrayal IS a profession.
A 'holiness standard' is a distinguishing characteristic of people submitted to God.
'Holiness standards' is one of the professions of our faith. (1 Tim 6:12; Heb 10:23)
It can be faked, but that does not invalidate the beauty of holiness portrayal consistent with an inward purity.
This is called WORSHIP – 1 Chr 16:29; 2 Chr 20:21; Psa 29:2; 96:9.
There IS a difference between Godly people & ungodly. (Ex 11:7; Lev 10:10; 11:47; 1 Kings 8:53; Ezekial 22:26; Mt 25:32; 2 Cor 6:17; Jude 17-19)
Godly people are called 'peculiar' no less than six times in scripture. (Ex 19:5; Deut 14:2; 26:18; Psa 135:4; Titus 2:14; 1 Pet 2:9)
One may ask, "But what about 'man-made' holiness standards ?"
Her priests have violated my law, and have profaned mine holy things: they have put no difference between the holy and profane, neither have they shewed difference between the unclean and the clean, and have hid their eyes from my sabbaths, and I am profaned among them.
And they shall teach my people the difference between the holy and profane, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.
Preachers called of God have a clear responsibility to teach the doctrine of separation; to love it, live it, and proclaim it.
PS: Why so much opposition to 'holiness standards'? Standard bearers are always out in the front of the battle.
